Laboratory study of the antioxidant and alkalinity properties of processed water produced by the Water Processing Device (WPD-plus) and evaluation of the temporal stability of the reducing effects of the output water

Abstract

In this study, the antioxidant and acidity properties of water after retention in the permanent fields present in the Water Processing Pot were investigated experimentally, with three replications over a 10‑hour period. For this purpose, processed water was produced at different times using the Water Processing Pot, with one‑hour intervals; after preparing the processed water samples, pH and ORP tests were carried out separately on each sample. Due to the loss of water properties over time, these tests were repeated again at time intervals of one to ten hours after water production, in order to evaluate the persistence of these water effects outside the pot. Results showed that pH increased continuously with water retention in the pot, following an S‑shaped pattern. Simultaneously, the absolute value of ORP rose from 83.75 to 119.9 mV, indicating a progressive enhancement of reducing potential and potential antioxidant capacity. Samples retained for up to 3 hours maintained their alkaline and reducing characteristics for at least 8 hours after removal from the pot. These changes reflect a gradual improvement in mild alkalinity and reducing properties of the water, which may have potential for reducing oxidative stress. The findings are consistent with the literature on alkaline reducing waters, but precise confirmation of clinical effects requires advanced in vitro studies (such as molecular hydrogen measurement) and randomized controlled human trials.
