Reviewing the history and developments in the field of photovoltaic cells (1957 to 2023); Identifying the best in this field

Abstract

This research reviews the research done in the field of photovoltaic cells from 1957 to 2023. Scopus database was used to access extensive information and the total number of documents after applying keywords and time limit was 7995 documents. This study examines the process of publishing documents in different years, introducing the best in this field, including the best publications, countries, active researchers, frequent documents and frequent keywords. The results of this research showed that the most published documents are related to 2019 with the number of 912 documents. The fields of engineering, energy, and computer science, respectively, with the highest number of published documents, are in the first to third ranks of active subject areas studied in the field. Researchers such as Wang y, Zhang y and Liu y are the top researchers in the field of photovoltaic cells with 78, 62 and 61 documents respectively in terms of publishing documents. The countries of China, the United States and India in terms of publication of documents and the countries of the United States, China and the United Kingdom in terms of citation are ranked first to third respectively. Energies journal ranks first with the largest number of publications in the field of photovoltaic cells with 268 documents. Important words such as photovoltaic cells, solar energy, and solar electricity generation are ranked first to third most frequent words in the studied field, respectively, with the highest frequency.
