Abstract

Arsenic metal is one of the most toxic and dangerous elements in drinking water. Today, with the expansion of the use of this metal in agriculture, animal husbandry, medicine and industry, the conditions for arsenic to enter water sources and the environment have been greatly facilitated. Therefore, effective and available methods to remove it are very necessary. It is important to use appropriate arsenic removal methods that are affordable and easily available and efficient. Introducing methods of purifying this metal in crisis conditions and providing effective solutions by experts before these crises occur will greatly reduce the harm of arsenic consumption in urban and agricultural water. In this research, arsenic removal technologies are investigated. One of the most important technologies for removing arsenic is the surface absorption method. Relatively low cost of the surface adsorption method compared to other purification methods, easy access to their adsorbent and high efficiency in removing arsenic with the ability to be used in different scales are the advantages of this method. This method is also applicable in centralized and decentralized water purification systems and does not require complex infrastructure or technical expertise for installation and operation. Understanding the advantages and disadvantages of these methods for the country's water resources experts and decision makers can be useful in choosing and implementing arsenic removal technologies to make an informed choice.
